Delta Community Holds SSG Hostage Over Herdsmen’s Attack

Osissa community in the Ndokwa-East Local Government Area of Delta State are currently protesting and holding the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Festus Ovie Agas, and his convoy hostage over the alleged killing of three members of the community by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

The protesters numbering over one thousand intercepted the convoy of the SSG who was traveling to Asaba after spending the weekend with his family in Ughelli at about 6:55am along the Ughelli-Asaba express on Monday.

Sources told our correspondent that other travelers including those going to Onitsha market in Anambra State were also trapped in the protest.

The PUNCH had reported that suspected herdsmen over the weekend repeatedly invaded the agrarian community injuring at least one person.

Izuchukwu Nwajiaku Dies In Malaysia (Eze Ndigbo 1 Of Malaysia)

Police have arrested one of the two suspected armed robbers, who abandoned robbery and demanded sex at Igando area of Lagos State. The robbers, who were armed with machetes, were said to have broken into the victim’s house at No. 6, Ismail Abass Street and attempted to rape a young girl in the presence of his father.

Confirming the arrest of the suspect yesterday, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Dolapo Badmos, said the robbers attacked and injured the victim’s father in the head for stopping them from raping his daughter.

Obanikoro Offers To Refund N785m Slush Fund

Embattled former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro may soon be let out of custody by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following indications that he has agreed to make refunds of the money he allegedly collected from the Office of National Security Adviser (ONSA).

The anti-graft agency accused the ex-minister of collecting N785 million from ONSA while in office.

His friends and associates are understood to be rallying around him to raise the funds as a first step to secure his bail.

Obanikoro is understood to be targeting N100 million as first installment of the refund.

From ONSA, about N4.685 billon was transferred to Sylva McNamara Limited, a company allegedly linked to the ex-Minister.

Obanikoro told EFCC interrogators that N3.880 billion of the N4.685 billion was allocated to Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State and Senator Iyiola Omisore.

Man apologizes on social media before killing his ex-girlfriend in front of their daughter

Ethan Reid, 23, killed his ex-girlfriend Kaylah Hodges, 20, with a shotgun, in front of their seven-month-old daughter at his mother’s home in Scottsville, Kentucky. Hours before the murder, Reid wrote an apology on Facebook, stating that he’s “a terrible person after all and was never meant to be happy.”

The Allen County Sheriff Department said the couple – whose five years relationship ended recently, got into an argument before Kaylah was fatally shot. Reid’s mother, April Riley, was holding her granddaughter when Hodges, who had been living at the family’s residence, was killed by her drunk son. Speaking about what happened, April said:

Former Minister of Environment under Goodluck Jonathan administration, Mrs. Laurentia Laraba Mallam and her husband, Pius Mallam, 73, who were kidnapped by gunmen on Monday night in Kaduna State have been freed, a competent source close to the family confirmed to SaharaReporters.

The family reportedly paid an undisclosed sum for ransom before the kidnappers released the couple. The kidnappers initially demanded a N10million ransom. The couple was kidnapped at gunpoint while travelling along the Kaduna-Abuja expressway.

Election Victory: Group Tells Ize-Iyamu To Emulate Jonathan

The Edo Youths Coalition has urged the Peoples Democratic Party candidate in the just-concluded governorship poll in the state, Mr. Osagie Ize-Iyamu, to accept the outcome of the exercise.

Secretary-General of the group, Mr. Toju Igbene, made the call on Wednesday during a solidarity rally by members of the group at the secretariat of Nigeria Union of Journalists in Benin.

The group challenged Ize-Iyamu to emulate former President Goodluck Jonathan, who conceded defeat before the official declaration of his opponent, Muhammadu Buhari, as the winner of 2015 presidential poll.

A middle aged woman identified as Mrs Okanlawon Florence was today electrocuted in her residence at Shokoya Close off Dapson Street, Oke Ira Ojodu LCDA Lagos state. According to reports, the woman died while attempting to turn off her refrigerator following a fire outbreak from a PHCN transformer close to her house.

The deceased’s 14 year old daughter identified as Okanlawon Taiwo was also affected by the fire from the transformer and is currently receiving medical attention at the General Hopital Ifako Ijaye.

Baba Suwe ill & Can Hardly Walk- Yomi Fabiyi Cries Out

Actor Yomi Fabiyi has cried out for help saying Babatunde Omidina popularly known as Baba Suwe is sick and can hardly walk at the moment. According to him, this is due to the torture he got from the NDLEA when he was accused of ingesting drugs and was detained. Police stop mum from jumping in front of train with her 9 year old daughter

A suicidal mom, 43 year old Gabriella Georgescu, holding her 9-year-old daughter threatened to jump in front of an oncoming subway train in Midtown, New York on Friday. According to the Police, Georgesc was raving and ranting about killing herself and her child as she stood close to the edge of the platform at 59th St. and Lexington Ave. just before 5 p.m.
Alarmed passengers and an MTA worker who heard her threats alerted the police. A plainclothes police officer arrived to find Georgescu leaning near the gap as a northbound 6 train rolled into the station, according to cops.

The officer quickly slapped cuffs on her before she could jump, an NYPD spokesman said.

Etim Inyang, ex-IGP, is dead

The family of the former Inspector General of Police, Sir Etim Okon Inyang, on Wednesday, confirmed the passage of the non-nonsense police chief.

In a statement made available to Vanguard in Abuja, the family confirmed that their father passed on at the Reddington Hospital, Lagos on Monday night.

In the statement signed by the son of the late IGP, Inyang Etim Inyang, the family said their bread winner died at the age of 85.

Update: Fulani Herdsmen who kidnapped Catholic Priest in Enugu demand for N2.5 million ransom

Some Catholic priests were attacked by Fulani Herdsmen in Enugu State on Sept 26th, (Read here). According to reports, the priests Rev Fr Chetanna Jude Chukwuneke, Fr Emmanuel Dim and Fr Prof Ezeokana were in a car passing along Obimo in Uzo-Uwani when the suspected herdsmen emerged from a bush in a bad spot of the road, and attacked. While Fr Chukwuenke and Fr Prof Ezeokana escaped, Fr Emmaniuel Dim was abducted. A 2.5 million Naira ransom has now been demanded before he is released.

On being single: It’s tricky! It’s exactly like learning to ride a bike again but I think I am doing very well. Laughs. They are more confident, and if it rocks their boats, why not? A 34-year-old Nigerian woman from East Dulwich woman who was involved in a £40,000 money laundering scam was sentenced at Southwark Crown Court on Friday, September 16th.

Olamide Aina was found guilty at the court on Monday, August 8th of two counts of money laundering. She was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment suspended for two years for one count, and six months imprisonment suspended for two years for the second, both to run concurrently.

She is required to undertake 200 hours unpaid work.

South Africa bans homophobic American preacher from entering the country

Stephen Anderson, an American pastor who made headlines after controversially praising the Orlando attacks at a gay club in June has been banned from entering South Africa along with his associates.

South Africa’s home affairs minister said after consultation with leaders of the nation’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities, he decided Anderson is not welcome there. Anderson had intended to visit South Africa this week, until he learned of the news.

Odion Ighalo was invited to play for the Under 23 team at the recently concluded Rio 2016 Olympics in Brazil but surprisingly didn’t join the team’s camp.
